I just heard a great interview on the radio with the director of the Center for Retirement at Boston College. The facts were not surprising to me who lives with this knowledge on a monthly basis. However, they were laid out so nicely, they are worth sharing. So here is my presentation of the center’s facts:

• 51% if Boomers at financial risk for retirement
• Only one out of 2 workers in this country have an employer sponsored retirement plan
• Only 1 out of 3 have only Social Security income

For those that do have a plan, and are age 55 – 64, the average 401k plan is $74,000 – not enough to keep them in retirement
